It is surprising but true! With a gradual relaxation of the lockdown, the demand for vehicles has increased. The cars and two-wheelers have staged a recovery as unlock begins. The pandemic has significantly fueled the sales of passenger vehicles due to the preference for personal mobility. People now prioritize social distancing and personal hygiene, hence they prefer personal mobility. This has boosted the manufacturing and sales of vehicles.
Toshihiro Suzuki, president of Suzuki Motor Corporation said, “Automotive industry is ‘recovering faster than expected’ on account of pent up demand and the need for personal mobility over public transportation post lifting lockdown in May.”
A research by SIAM (Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers) has revealed that the sales of passenger vehicles in Indian have risen by 26% in September. Passenger vehicle wholesales in India increased by 26.45 per cent to 2,72,027 units in September as against 2,15,124 units in the same month last year, auto industry body SIAM said on Friday. Wherein two-wheeler sales also rose 11.64 per cent to 18,49,546 units, compared with 16,56,658 units in the same month last year.
Certain features like in-built sanitization, enhanced air-purification systems and anti-bacterial surfaces may see a spike in demand of four wheelers. Companies that incorporate such innovation while staying cost-effective will likely have the upper hand in terms of sales. Consumers are willing to pay extra for their own physical and mental wellbeing.
