A guest lecture is a best way to enrich students with technological advancements and latest updates in an industry. Our master class, ‘Skill Talk’ organized for hotel management students was honored by Mr. Aslam Syed. He is currently associated with VITS Sharanam Hotel as a Group General Manager. He has more than 24 years of experience in Hotel Operations, Administration, Front Office Management, Sales, F&B Operation, Banqueting and Outdoor Catering Management.
Expertise in handling a diverse range of operations entailing front office, sales & revenue, P&L accountability, costs control, team building, training, & property management, Mr. Aslam introduced the new trends in hospitality industry to our students. The emergence of new hotels worldwide has created millions of job. Thus, choosing a career in this industry would be a wise decision as it has a vast scope.
Mr. Aslam advised the students to make a logical decision while choosing an area of interest. He helped them understand the complex concepts in hotel industry by giving examples from daily life. Mr. Aslam said, “The hospitality industry is very simple, it’s all about communications skills. You should be very honest and make good relations with your guests. Your bad mood should never reflect in your behavior when at work.” He further said, “You can start from scratch. You may join the hotel at a lower position and then simultaneously grow depending upon your skills and experience.”
Mr. Aslam encouraged them to inculcate and develop good habits and learn thoroughly during the course tenure, especially when on OJT. The lecture was concluded with a brief question answer session.
